Workshop: Introduction to Business Continuity Management

  1. Understanding the six elements of the BCM lifecycle.
  2. Be able to describe the BCM requirements of British Standard BS25999.
  3. Appreciate the role of the Business Impact Analysis in determining critical processes and resources.
  4. Be able to describe the role of the Business Continuity Plan and understand how to produce one.
  5. Appreciate the function of BCM Strategies and define what they should cover.
  6. Be able to describe how to embed BCM in an organization.
  7. Understand the options for exercising, maintaining and reviewing BCM capabilities.
Summary: This one-day workshop will equip delegates with an understanding of how to develop, validate and embed a Business Continuity Management capability.  Upon completion of the workshop they will be able to lead BCM implementation or development work within their organisation.

  4. Appreciate the how to select suitable exercise aims and objectives.
  5. Understand the exercise methodologies that can be employed.
  6. Understand the resources, including people, required to deliver an exercise.
  7. Be clear on how to write an exercise script.
  8. Appreciate the issues to be addressed in delivering and validating an exercise.
  9. Understand how to conduct post exercise activities and how to identify the major lessons produced.

Summary: This half-day workshop will equip delegates with the knowledge surrounding research into organisational resilience.  They will be clear on why crises happen to organisations and, importantly, why the culture and leadership within an organisation can determine how prone that organisation is to disasters.  Delegates will also explore how to build High Reliability Organisations and investigate the components of a true resilience capability.

Who Should Attend: Anyone with responsibility for leadership within technically and structurally complex organisations that have the potential for any crises to produce significant long-term damage.
